97 additional postive cases of COVID-19 reported Sunday; 8 new deaths

Delaware's Division of Public Health (DPH) announced eight additional fatalities related to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and provided an update on the number of positive cases and recovered individuals Sunday..

The First State is closing in on 10,000 COVID-19 cases and 400 deaths.

 

The Delaware Division of Public Health (DPH) announced eight additional fatalities Sunday, raising the state’s death toll to 398 since March 11th.

The latest victims were between 40 and 91-years-old. Four lived in Kent County, while two each were from New Castle and Sussex Counties.

 

All eight had underlying health conditions. And three were long-term care facility residents.

   

State health officials also report 97 new positive cases. There have now been 9,942 cases to date.

 

Virus-related hospitalizations continue to fall - down 14 to 103 as of Saturday night.  Twenty people are still critically ill.

 

But the five-day averages of the percent of people testing positive and new positive cases are trending up the past four days.

 

A total of 5,792 people have now recovered from the disease.
