Delaware Humane Association participates in Clear the Shelters campaign

If you are interested in adopting a dog or cat - now may be the perfect time.

The Delaware Humane Association’s (DHA) adoption centers in Wilmington and Rehoboth are teaming up with shelters across the country for the Clear the Shelters event.

“This is a month-long pet adoption campaign, which includes discounted adoption fees," said DHA’s marketing managerCory Topel. "And the aim of this annual adoption initiative is really quite simple - help your local shelter Clear the Shelters. The campaign also runs through September 29.”

Topel says DHA is offering $25 off all animal adoption fees.

Other specials remain valid during the Clear the Shelters event, including a 50% reduction on adoption fees for animals waiting over three months. And adoption fees are completely waived for any animal waiting over six months.

Topel adds that adoption fees for all adult animals adopted on Saturday, September 18, 2021 will also be waived completely. The month-long event ends on Sept. 19, 2021

157 animals were adopted during last year's virtual Clear the Shelters event. Topel notes there are currently 286 animals in DHA’s care.

She suggests if you’re thinking about adopting a pet, click here, to check out the animals available.

DHA also asks anyone interested in adopting - to fill out an online questionnaire before visiting the shelter to help make the best match.
