Hagley Museum and Library celebrates esstential workers during the holidays

Hagley Museum and Library in Wilmington is able to stay open during Gov. Carney’s current stay-at-home advisory.

And the museum is taking the opportunity this month to salute frontline workers who have helped communities during the pandemic.

We’re celebrating Holidays at Hagley with a special theme this year - “Hometown Heroes” - as you had mentioned to honor those who have helped us navigate the pandemic this year,” said Laura Jury, marketing manager at Hagley.

Jury says one way Hagley is recognizing essential workers is with their 3rd annual Gingerbread House Contest.  It has a “Hometown Heroes” theme, featuring things like fire stations and emergency vehicles.

She notes that Hagley’s Pastry Chef Michele Mitchell created her own gingerbread house tribute.  It’s a replica of the Goodwill Fire Station in New Castle and welcomes visitors to the Millwright Shop lobby display.

The museum is also offering free admission to frontline workers, medical personnel, teachers and emergency responders through January 3, 2021.
