Jahsha Tabron

Delaware’s 2022 Teacher of the Year is Jahsha Tabron, a special education teacher at Brandywine High School.

Gov. John Carney made the announcement Monday night during a virtual ceremony in Dover honoring the 20 district and charter teachers of the year nominees.

Tabron is co-teacher in Brandywine High school’s English classes with a primary focus on ninth-grade special education students transitioning to the high school.

Tabron earned her Bachelor of Science in elementary and special education from Delaware State University and her Master of Education in school leadership and instruction from Wilmington University.

Tabron receives a $5,000 grant to use for the educational benefit of her students, as well as two personal grants totaling an additional $5,000. She is also now Delaware’s nominee for National Teacher of the Year.

The other 19 finalists will each receive a $2,000 cash grant.
