Woodbridge High School in Greenwood is closing temporarily over concerns surrounding an outbreak of COVID-19 cases there among staff and students.

In a letter to parents and students released Friday, Woodbridge School District superintendent Heath Chasanov says several cases of the virus have been confirmed at the high school and the campus will be closed two weeks for cleaning.

He noted the decision to close down the high school was made to "err on the side of caution."

The school has been using a hybrid model of online and in-person learning, but will now shift to completely remote learning.

"We have been preparing for a situation like this requiring a shift to remote learning, so our high school students will still receive high quality instruction during this closure," said Chasanov in the letter.

All after school activities, including sports, are cancelled as well.

The school is expected to reopen November 9.
