Referendum approved in Seaford School District

Seaford School District’s tax referendum passed with ease Wednesday.

Residents approved both district requests.They said “ok” to $491,000 in capital spending to partially replace the roof at Central Elementary School by a 640 vote margin - with 1166 voting "yes" to 526 "no" votes.

The operating expense ask passed by 540 votes - with 1137 "yes" votes and 596 "no" votes. The average property owner will now pay an extra $8 a month to help buy new textbooks, improve school security and cover teacher salaries.

Seaford is the latest district to succesfully pass a referendum, joining Smyrna and Indian River School Districts which got voter approval last month.
