Dover Air Force Base pharmacy to reopen this week, base access is adjusted

Delaware Public Media
In an effort to ensure unit readniness, protect the community and address the COVID-19 threat, there are now new access procedures at Dover Air Force Base.

The pharmacy at Dover Air Force Base is expected to reopen this Friday.

Last week, 436th Airlift Wing Commander Col. Matthew Jones shut the pharmacy down because of a possible COVID-19 exposure. Base public health officials have now determined the pharmacy is safe.

Anyone using the pharmacy is still being encouraged to enroll in Express Scripts mail-order pharmacy - as a precaution.

Meantime, some new base access procedures also go into effect this week.

Starting Wednesday, retired military members, their dependents and approved Veteran Health Identification Card (VHIC) holders are only allowed on Dover Air Force Base on Wednesdays and Saturdays. They will have exclusive use of the commissary, pharmacy, base shoppette and post office on those days.

Active-duty members and their dependents can only use the commissary on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.  Access to the pharmacy is limited to Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. This group is able to use other base facilities throughout the week.
