CAMP (Create A More Positive)Rehoboth has hired a new executive director.

More than a year after the death of the organization’s founding director -Steve Elkins - The CAMP Rehoboth Board of Directors tapped David Mariner to take over.

“It is a little bit intimidating knowing how Steve was loved by everyone in Rehoboth. I think it has been a little bit of a daunting thing to think about filling those shoes. But at the same time, so many folks throughout Rehoboth have already started reaching out to me,” Mariner said.

Mariner comes from the D.C. Center for the LGBT Community where he served as executive director since 2008, “My first thoughts were about the changes that will be taking place in the next month or so, because it’s a big thing to make a move like this. But also, I’m looking forward to what’s possible in Rehoboth.”

Mariner officially starts October 7, 2019.

“I think my first job is to meet everyone," sais Mariner. "Rehoboth is such an amazing place and so many of the folks who have been part of CAMP Rehoboth over the years have already started to reach out to me. And I’m really looking forward to meeting everyone and becoming part of that amazing community.”

Mariner says once he and his husband get settled, they want to explore being foster parents in Delaware.

Former CAMP Rehoboth Executive Director Steve Elkins passed away in March 2018 after a battle with lymphoma. His husband and co-founder Murray Archibald has served as the group’s  interim director since that time.
