Wesley College continues to be unbeatable in the first round of the NCAA Division III football tournament.

The Wolverines, ranked 18th nationally in Div. III, rolled past #20 Stevenson 38-17 Saturday in Dover to notch an opening round playoff victory for an 12th straight year.

Senior running back Jamar Baynard rushed for 265 yards and three touchdowns to lead Wesley.

The 9-2 Wolverines will travel to Cleveland next Saturday to face John Carroll University in the second round contest.

John Carroll beat Olivet 37-12 in its first round contest.

Also Saturday, Delaware State fell at Howard 26-21.  They complete the 2016 season winless season with an 0-11 record.

And the University of Delaware ended its 2016 season with a loss, falling at home to Villanova 41-10.  It’s the second straight year the Blue hens have finished 4-7, and the team’s first back-to-back losing seasons since the late 1930s.
