Madison Brengle continues to make a name for herself on the women’s pro tennis tour in 2016.

The 25-year-old Dover native scored another upset win at the Dubai Tennis Championships, defeating the world’s eighth ranked player Petra Kvitova in three sets.

Brengle, currently ranked 60th in the world, dropped the first set six-love, but rallied to take the final two sets from the two-time Wimbledon champ.  It’s the second time Brengle has beaten Kvitova.  She also knocked her off at a tournament in Germany last year.

Earlier this week, Brengle topped the world’s  #31 player Ekaterina Makarova in opening round of the Dubai Championships.  And she started the year by reached the third round of this year’s Australian Open.

Brengle also got good news on the home front this week, named Delaware Athlete of the Year by the Delaware Sportswriters and Broadcasters Monday.
