Crooked Hammock Brewery and ILC-Dover are teaming up on a new space-themed beer.

Two Delaware companies are marking the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing by collaborating on a new drink.

Crooked Hammock Brewery and ILC-Dover are making a space-themed beer.

ILC marketing and communications associate Stephanie Arthurs explains how the idea was hatched, “So Crooked Hammock reached out to us and they thought it was amazing that the company right here in Delaware actually produces the spacesuits, including the ones that were on the Apollo Mission, which was just celebrated in July.”

Crooked Hammock Brewery digital marketing manager Tommy Little says the new beer is named “One Giant Leap,” “It’s going to be a stout. It’s going to be brewed with space ice cream, consisting of chocolate chips and vanilla. And we’re going to bring them down (ILC employees) to brew the beer probably the first week of October. We’re going to release the beer Thursday, October 17 at the Brewery.”

Little adds that ILC employees and a replica space suit will be part of the beer’s release - again - on Thursday, October 17, 2019 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Crooked Hammock’s Lewes brewery.

The brewery is also producing a limited edition commemorative glass for the occasion. And Little notes that they are only brewing five barrels of “One Giant Leap,” which again is brewed with Apollo hops, chocolate malts, vanilla, and space-ice-cream sandwiches.
