Allen Harim to open new 70,000 square foot hatchery in Dagsboro

Poultry processor Allen Harim announced Monday it’s building a new 70,000 square foot hatchery in Dagsboro.

The new $22 million facility will have the capability to produce 2.5 million eggs per week.

These eggs will be used to hatch chickens that will be raised for food.

The new facility will be built on the company’s 20 acre site on Nine Foot Road in Dagsboro.

When complete, Allen Harim plans to close two older hatcheries, one in Seaford and another in Dagsboro.

Employees at those locations will be moved to the new hatchery or other Allen Harim facilities.

This new hatchery will be the company’s most energy efficient and environmentally friendly facility, according to a statement by Allen Harim.

It will also be the company’s most technologically-advanced hatchery on the Delmarva Peninsula.
