New Castle County now has the most COVID-19 cases to date in the First State.
State health officials announced Thursday 55 new cases bringing the overall total to 10,499 since March 11th.
Forty-eight of the new cases were in Delaware’s most populous county. New Castle County now 4,470 to date, surpassing Sussex County.
Five new COVID-19 deaths were announced, pushing the state’s death toll to 431. The latest victims were between 74 and 98 years-old. Four lived in New Castle County and one in Sussex County. All five had underlying health conditions and four lived at a long-term care facility.
Current hospitalizations dropped by four and now stand at 79. 17 people are critically ill.
Forty-five more people are considered recovered, lifting the total in Delaware to 6,350. And, 78,185 Delawareans have tested negative for the coronavirus.
