New Castle Co. Chief Admin. Officer Grimaldi fired

Delaware Public Media

A high-ranking member of New Castle County executive Tom Gordon’s staff has been ousted.

Gordon has fired the county’s Chief Administrative Officer David Grimaldi. His office offered a statement Friday afternoon that said Gordon was moving County government in a “different direction.”

It only confirmed Grimaldi’s dismissal and that Gordon intends to appoint an acting Chief Administrative Officer in the near future.  It indicted Gordon would not comment any further on a “personnel matter.”

The News Journal reports Grimaldi claims he was let go Thursday after questioning Gordon about his risk manager.  Grimaldi added he asked those questions after several employees filed "hostile workplace complaints."

Grimaldi also told the News Journal he is considering running against Gordon for County Executive if he seeks another term.
