Record COVID spread continues in the First State

The coronavirus continues to accelerate its spread in Delaware.

The state reports another day of more than 900 new cases. The 925 cases Tuesday is another near record - second only to the 936 last Thursday.

The seven day rolling average of new cases in the state continues to reach new heights - it’s now at more than 810 cases per day.

And the average number of positive tests also continues to increase - it’s now at 10 percent.

Hospitalizations for COVID-19 in Delaware are also at a new record with 348 statewide and 42 people in critical condition.

The state’s death toll held steady and remains at 803.

Since the start of the pandemic, Delaware has seen 42,393 confirmed cases of the virus out of more than 800,000 tests. The state is averaging more than 7,400 tests for COVID each day.
