The Junior League of Wilmington (JLW) hosts its 5th Annual Women’s Leadership Summit next month.

The Junior League of Wilmington is in its 102nd year working to develop women leaders that make an impact on their communities.

And the group’s president Kyle Evans Gay says the Women’s Leadership Summit is one of the biggest way it fulfills that mission.

This year’s event is set for February 22, 2020 and is entitled “Together We Rise”.

Evans Gay says it will feature a wide array of speakers.

“We’re really excited to have Dr. Brandi Baldwin (CEO, Millennial Ventures)coming down from Philadelphia; she’s a keynote speaker and is very motivational and inspiring and just someone who we think that people in Delaware will take a lot from; her perspective is really welcome," said Evans Gay. "We’re also very excited to welcome Drew Fennell who is from ChristianaCare.”

Fennell is also a board member at Delaware Public Media.

Evans Gay adds the common theme among the speakers at the day-long event at the Double Tree Hotel in north Wilmington is their advocacy backgrounds.

“One of our keynotes is Lilly Minor and she is from Pennsylvania; she’s working with the legislature there to pass a period equity bill. And she’s coming down to speak with us about her efforts, her passion and her advocacy,” said Evan Gay.

Other speakers include Delaware YWCA CEO Stephanie Staats and United Way of Delaware President and CEO Michelle Taylor.

Evans Gay says this year’s event is expected to draw upwards of 200 people and event proceeds will support the Junior League of Wilmington’s mission to train women to be community leaders and its communty impact intiatives.
