Dover’s Madison Brengle saw her run at Wimbledon end Friday.
Two days after the 27-year-old Brengle scored an upset win over two-time Wimbledon champ Petra Kvitova, she was ousted in the third round.
Brengle, ranked 95th in he world, fell to Caroline Garcia of France in straight sets 6-4, 6-3.
She lost despite committing just 13 unforced errors to Garcia’s 25. Garcia overcame that gap with 34 winners and five aces. Brengle managed just just 11 winners in the match.
This is only the fourth time in her career Brengle has reached the third round or beyond in singles at a grand slam event. A fourth round appearance at the 2015 Australian Open remains her best ever effort at a major.
She expected to take a break from the tour starting this month to play World Team Tennis with the Washington Kastles.
