UD women face Elon in CAA quarterfinals

The University of Delaware women’s basketball team hopes to find the kind of March magic that’s eluded other First State college hoop teams this week.

The Blue Hens play in quarterfinals of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) women’s basketball tournament Thursday afternoon.  UD, the tourney’s 5th seed, faces fourth seen Elon at The Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.

So far, the UD men’s team and both DSU squads have been ousted from conference tourney play without posting a win.

The UD women are a perfect 12-0 all-time in the CAA quarterfinals, but this year face an Elon team that beat them twice during the regular season - 66-64 in double overtime February 7 in Newark and  62-45 in North Carolina on February 26.

Tip-off  between Delaware and Elon is set for 2:30 Thursday afternoon.
