Blue Rocks swept in Carolina League championship series

The Blue Rocks’ season ended Wednesday night.

Myrtle Beach completed a three game sweep of the Rocks in the Mills Cup Carolina League Championship series with a 3-2 Game 3 win at Myrtle Beach.

The Rocks tied the game at 2 on Mike Hill’s RBI single in the top of the ninth, but the Pelicans answered with a run of their own bottom half of the inning on Pin-Chieh Chen’s two-out, bases loaded single to take the game and the title.

Wilmington was seeking its fifth Carolina League title and first since 1999.  Instead, Myrtle Beach walked away with its third crown and first since 2000.
