New Bayhealth, Nemours facility fully up and running

Bayhealth

Two hospital systems are collaborating to bring top quality pediatric care to the state of the art Bayhealth Sussex Campus in Milford.

Bayhealth and Nemours Children’s Health System celebrated the ribbon cutting for the new 35,000 square foot Nemours Sussex Medical Office Building.

The building includes Nemours primary pediatric care, specialty care, therapy services, and diagnostic services - along with Nemours SeniorCare, Sussex Campus which provides dental and vision services as well as hearing screening for eligible Delaware residents.

Mark Mumford is Nemours Delaware Valley Operations Chief Executive, and he says the new building will have everything needed to care for patients.

"This facility has 20 new specialty and 13 primary care exam rooms, has seven telehealth mobile carts, and more than 1,000 state of the art pieces of equipment to care for our patients."

Bayhealth-employed and private practice physicians have offices on the second and third floor, providing primary and specialty care services according to Bayheath CEO Terry Murphy.

"Endocrinology, maternal fetal medicine, or for those with high risk of deliveries, high-risk obstetrical care, to include women's care, cardiology urology, ear nose and throat physicians and clinics as well as our bariatric weight-loss program."

The overall objective of the new building is to bring Nemours services to central and southern Delaware where Nemours serves over 30,000 patients.

Valerie Biggs is the mother of Nemours patients, and she says not having to make the trip to Wilmington is a relief.

"No more all day trips, traffic, tolls, gas, juggling children, and so on just to see a specialist. How exciting to be able to come here, which is just 15 minutes from home, and it won't affect my children's schedules or anything and have the access to the same doctors that we have when we had to go to Wilmington. To have it all right here is amazing."

The SeniorCare and primary care opened last November with the specialty care and therapy services now joining them at the facility.

Nemours also announced the opening of The Heart of Milford as part of its new Nemours Cares Closet Program.

The Heart of Milford will provide essential baby items to Nemours patients and families in need. The closet will be stocked by donations from Nemours associates and the community.
