6 new coronavirus-related deaths and 136 new cases announced Monday

The First State reports another six COVID-19 deaths.

 

The latest deaths were spread across all three counties. 

Three were in Sussex County.  They involved women between 71 to 87 years old who had been hospitalized. Two were long term care facility residents.

Monday’s deaths in Kent County involved two women, a 54-year-old who had been hospitalized and a 72-year-old long-term care facility resident.

And in New Castle County – there was one death -- an 80-year-old man living at a long-term care facility.

Delaware has now seen 41 deaths related to the virus, with 28 connected to long-term care facilities.

 

State health officials also reported 136 more COVID-19 cases Monday. The total number of lab-confirmed cases since March 11 is now 1,761. 

Current hospitalizations in Delaware stand at 204, up just three from the 201 reported Sunday.  277 Delawareans are considered recovered from COVID-19, up from 213 Sunday.

The Department of Correction also reports one new positive COVID-19 test involving a correctional officer at Vaughn prison near Smyrna. A total of 12 correctional officers statewide have tested positive, seven at Vaughn. Twelve inmates at Vaughn have also tested positive for the virus.
