State Politics Reporter

Delaware Public Media is looking for a State Politics Reporter to join our award-winning team providing statewide coverage of the First State as Delaware’s source for NPR News.

We’re looking for a motivated and creative person to produce daily news stories and features for our nationally recognized weekly news magazine.

This reporter will be based in Dover, with coverage responsibilities focused on state government and the state legislature as well as other stories and issues in central and southern Delaware.

Responsibilities include:

  • Research, write, produce and/or edit stories for all day parts and weekend, as well as web.
  • Research, write, produce and/or edit long-form features for weekly news magazine.
  • Conduct live and taped interviews
  • Occasionally produce and anchor newscasts
  • Operate studio audio board during newscasts and other programming

Qualifications include:

  • 4-year college degree or equivalent work experience to BA degree major in journalism, mass communications or other related field.
  • Minimum 1-year on-air experience.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a professional newsroom.
  • Background and interest in political reporting preferred, but not required
  • Background in long form public radio reporting preferred, but not required.

Producer

Delaware Public Media is looking for a Producer to join our team providing statewide coverage of the First State as Delaware’s source for NPR News.

We’re looking for a motivated and creative person to play a key role and a provide a fresh voice in developing local content our awarding-winning news magazine, The Green, and other projects.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work independently to conceive, propose, plan and research ideas for programs and segments.
  • Write, produce, edit, mix and anchor show segments and interviews for air and web.
  • Work with DPM reporters to produce long-form features and interviews.
  • Work with high school and college students to produce multi-platform stories.
  • Deliver social media and newsletter content to promote DPM programs
  • Assist producing longform coverage, such as election coverage.
  • Occasionally research, write, produce and/or edit stories for all day parts and weekend, as well as web.

Job qualifications include:

  • 4-year college degree or equivalent work experience to BA degree major in journalism, mass communications or other related field.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a professional newsroom preferred, but not required.
  • On-air broadcast experience preferred, but not required.

Advancement Director

Delaware Public Media is Delaware’s only NPR affiliate, reporting on news and stories of interest to Delawareans and providing the best of independent news and journalism from national sources like NPR and American Public Media. Headquartered on the campus of Delaware State University and working statewide, we are a small local team that brings the same robust news coverage as larger markets.

We are seeking an Advancement Director to expand our membership program. This is a specialized fundraising and institutional development position. We are seeking an experienced professional with a demonstrated record of success.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate and lead the development plan
  • Coordinate all fundraising campaigns, on-air, online and external.
  • Create development activities/ events timeline and calendar
  • Maintain and develop foundation relationships, grant applications, execution and reporting.
  • Lead donor communications
  • Develop and manage donor events and relationships
  • Lead development of fundraising messaging, related social media planning, donor communications, creation of media for membership drives and other campaigns.
  • Provide input to development of annual reports
  • Must provide own transportation and be willing to travel as necessary.J

    Education and Required Skills

  • College degree is preferred, but not required.
  • At least 4 years of proven non-profit development experience.
  • Strong ability to create and execute donor strategy and implement fundraising best practices.
  • Experience with social media campaigns.
  • Strong annual report, newsletter, and writing skills
  • Ability to develop accurate and timely reports to management
  • Highly self-motivated, with strong project management skills.
  • Advanced interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to work closely and professionally with a wide range of constituents, including staff, presenting to board members, external partners and donors/prospects.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and excellent attention to detail,
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, to set and adjust priorities, and work under pressure while maintaining composure and professionalism.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet concurrent deadlines, organize time and priorities, and to do so in collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
  • Cultivate and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.
  • Experience delegating responsibility and ensure accountability.
  • Ability to train and coordinate volunteers.
  • Willingness and availability to work diverse schedules, including evenings and weekends, as necessary.
  • A self-starter is who able to be motivated in a remote setting. Ability to foster relationships with DPM donors.
