Delaware's COVID numbers continue their relentless rise

COVID-related hospitalizations and deaths keep climbing in the First State.

State health officials report hospitalizations statewide rose to a record-high for a fourth straight day.

They hit 407 Wednesday with 58 people considered critically ill.

Delaware also announced another 12 COVID-related deaths, lifting the state’s death toll to 845.

Seven of the deaths were in New Castle County. Four were in Sussex County and one in Kent.  All of the victims had underlying health conditions and 6 were residents of long-term care facilities.

Delaware saw 820 new cases Wednesday – lifting its 7-day rolling average for new cases to nearly 828.

The state’s seven day rolling percentage of positive tests remains below 10, holding at 9.4 percent.

Delaware is closing in on 49,000 positive cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began -- out of almost 875,000 total tests.
