The Blood Bank of Delmarva and City of Rehoboth Beach are partnering on a blood drive for the first time.
The blood drive is scheduled for Monday, May 13 from noon until 6 p.m. at the Rehoboth Convention Center.
Blood Bank officials say they are ecstatic about this new partnership.
“You know, as we Delawareans know, Rehoboth Beach is a great destination, regionally and nationally. And the fact they they’re willing to partner with us is a great thing,” said Tony Prado, communications specialist for the Blood Bank of Delmarva.
Prado points out that the need for blood is constant.
“It takes 350 people a day to donate throughout the Delmarva Peninsula. And the potential Rehoboth Beach has to be a great blood drive for us is enormous,” said Prado.
Prado says walk-ins will not be turned away, but making an appointment is preferred.
Appointments can be set up by cloicking here or by calling 1-888-8-BLOOD-8.
Prado adds this event is being held a week before the Blood Bank’s summer blood drive launch as a way to get warmed up for the summer months when vacations and travel make it harder to find blood donors.
