Three tornado warnings issued in Delaware, none confirmed

National Weather Service

There were three tornado warnings in Delaware Monday, but no touchdown has been confirmed.National Weather Service Meteorologist Brian Haines says a rotation was observed in Caroline County, Maryland before making its way into central Delaware.

“This was what we call a supercell embedded in a broken line of showers and thunderstorms," said Haines. "It looked like the rotation started in Maryland and then briefly came to an end towards Kent County.”

Haines adds a second warning was issued after the rotation regained strength in Kent County before exiting the coast into the Delaware Bay.

The National Weather Service is coordinating with the Delaware Emergency Management Agency to collect any reports of damage in the area, but there have been no reports yet.

Monday’s storms also caused low to moderate level flooding in areas of northern Delaware along Red and White Clay Creeks.
