The Brandywine School Board voted unanimously at its Monday meeting to appoint Hohler to the post.

Hohler is an assistant superintendent in the district, and he has been a teacher, assistant principal, principal, Race to the Top director and director of secondary schools in Brandywine since 1992.

He will take over for Mark Holodick, who announced last month he is leaving the district after 10 years as superintendent to join the Delaware Academy for School Leadership at the University of Delaware as a senior leadership specialist.

The Brandywine School District is working with the Delaware School Boards Association to conduct a search for a new superintendent.  It hopes to have one in place on or before July 1, 2020.
