Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

Delaware continues to see an noticeable uptick in COVID-19 related deaths

State health officials report another 15 fatalities Saturday, lifting the state’s death toll to 286 – with 61 coming over the past five days.

The latest victims ranged in age from 50 to 92, with seven from New Castle County and four each from Kent and Sussex Counties. Ten had underlying health conditions and nine lived at long-term care facilities.

The state also saw 174 new cases, giving Delaware 7,547 total cases since March 11th.   The number of people considered recovered rose by 157 to 3,367.

And the numbers the state tracks to guide its reopening strategy remain on a downward trend.

Current hospitalizations dipped by 19 Saturday to 250, the lowest level since April 18. 50 people are critically.

And the 5-day averages for percentage of people testing positive and new positive cases also remain down after a reporting "glitch" skewed the data earlier this week.

The percentage of people testing positive is hovering just above 10 percent, and has been below 15 percent for a week.  And the 5-day average of new positive cases is at 96 and has been under 100 for three consectutive days.

Gov. Carney Friday offered his Phase 1 plans for reopening, slated to start on June 1.
