Two in Delaware die from the same heroin package

Delaware Public Media

Two people in Delaware died late last week of suspected drug overdoses involving heroin packets labeled with the same stamp.

The deaths took place within 24 hours of one another.

Delaware’s Department of Health and Social Services is warning all people in active substance use to seek addiction treatment immediately, and be sure they have access to the overdose antidote Naloxone.

Delaware first responders administered Naloxone more than 2,700 times in 2017. But 345 people in Delaware died of overdoses last year, and more than 200 of the deaths involved Fentanyl—almost doubling the Fentanyl overdose deaths from 2016.

More than 100 people have died of suspected overdoses in Delaware to date this year. Most have been from New Castle County, and ages have ranged from 19 to 74 years old.
