Starting on May 6, Delawareans have another option getting to the beach.
The DART Beach Bus is starting early this year.
The Red Line and Blue Line are starting weekend service, connecting people between Lewes and Ocean City, MD along Route 1.
Officials say demand from beachgoers and businesses are the reason for the early service.
It’s the second year in a row DART has launched the early weekend Beach Bus.
On May 22, daily Beach Bus routes start running daily from 7 a.m. - 2 a.m. from the new Lewes Park and Ride, with stops along Route 1 to Ocean City.
Then on May 26, the weekend Magenta Line from Wilmington to Rehoboth Beach starts up.
Beach bus service lasts through September.
