Wilmington is announcing street closures and parking restrictions in place for Staurday's funeral services for Beau Biden.
The ceremony taking place at St. Anthony of Padua Church in the city's Little Italy neighborhood will close down nearby streets to traffic beginning Friday at 6 a.m. and lasting until Saturday at 2 p.m.
Residents will be able to park their vehicles for free beginning Saturday at the St. Francis Hospital parking garage located at 7th and North Dupont streets - and additional streets are expected to close as the motorcade makes its way to the church.
City officials advise drivers to expect delays throughout the surrounding areas.

The City of Wilmington anticipates high traffic volume and delays as a result of several road closures due to the funeral services of former Attorney General Beau Biden. Citizens should be advised that there will be several parking restrictions and street closures, so motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes to avoid delays.
Drivers will NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARK on the streets listed below:
- Union Street from Pennsylvania Avenue to 9th Street
- Lincoln Street from Pennsylvania Avenue to 9th Street
- Scott Street from Howland Street to 10th Street
- DuPont Street from Howland Street to Pennsylvania Avenue
- 9th Street from Union Street to DuPont Street
The street closures will be in effect from Friday, June 5 at 6 a.m. through Saturday, June 6 at 2 p.m.
St. Francis Hospital will offer FREE PARKING in their garage for area residents affected by the “No Parking” restrictions, which is located at W. 7th Street and N. DuPont Street. The free parking will become available on Saturday, June 6.
The following streets will be CLOSED TO VEHICULAR TRAFFIC:
- DuPont Street from Pennsylvania Avenue to Howland Street
- 10th Street from Clayton Street to Union Street
- Howland Street from DuPont Street to Lincoln Street
- Scott Street from 8th Street to 11th Street
Citizens should also be advised that throughout the duration of the funeral services, there will be additional temporary street closures due to the movement of the motorcade. These movements will occur in the immediate area of the services. Drivers should expect delays, as traffic will most likely be affected throughout surrounding areas in the City of Wilmington.
