Kent County residents missing their trips to the library can resume them starting next week.
The Kent County Public Library reopens to the public on a limited basis starting Monday, November 16th.
Library director Hilary Welliver explains how they will operate.
“They need to call the Library at (302) 744-1919 to schedule a 45-minute appointment to browse the collections and check out materials or use the computers Mondays through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.," said Welliver. "We can’t do walk-ins or same-day appointments. And we will continue our limited curbside pickup by appointment through November.”
Welliver adds that seniors and immunocompromised visitors can visit the library between 9 and 10 a.m. - but still need an appointment.
Visits are limited to two per family per week with up to two family members per visit.
Welliver says employees conducted intensive cleaning of the library since it closed in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
And she says the library now has UV equipment to sanitize and sterilize books and other items - like keyboards, electronics and hard surfaces.
Welliver also notes other requirements will be in place.
“Visitors to the building must wear a face covering and pass a simple screening that includes a temperature check. Guests must also agree to a waiver that acknowledges that they are assuming the risk for using the library," said Welliver. "And they are also encouraged to make use of the hand sanitizing units that are installed throughout the building. State mandates for physical distancing will also be observed.”
The Kent County Library has been closed to visitors since March 17.
