Attendance records set at this year's Delaware State Fair 100th anniversary

Delaware State Fair
Extreme heat and humidity during part of its 10-day run did not keep the 100th Delaware State Fair from breaking some attendance records.

The 100th annual Delaware State Fair wrapped up its 10-day run in Harrington last weekend, and celebrated its centennial anniversary with some record-breaking crowds.

Fair general manager Bill DiMondi says this year’s event broke the all-time cumulative 10-day attendance record with a total of 328,000 people entering the fairgrounds. That’s a 12-percent increase over last year.

DiMondi adds that the Fair also broke an all-time weekday attendance record on Wednesday July 24th when almost 48,000 people walked through the gates.

And the State Fair had its best closing day attendance ever - drawing almost 54,000 people on its final day - Saturday, July 27th.

Extremely hot and humid weather some days did not affect  M&T Bank Grandstand performances. Approximately 50,000 fans attended shows this year - including sold out concerts by country greats Reba McEntire and Dan and Shay.

The dates are already set for the 101st annual Delaware State Fair.  It will run from July 23rd through August 1st, 2020.
