Callahan's NFL debut put on hold
Disappointment for former Wesley College quarterback Joe Callahan Sunday night.
Callahan - Green Bay’s third string QB -was slated to make his NFL debut when he and the Green Bay Packers opened preseason play against Indianapolis in the NFL’s Hall of Fame game in Canton, Ohio.
But the game was cancelled when issues arose with the paint used on the midfield logo and in the end zones - creating conditions that were deemed unsafe.
Adding to Callahan’s disappointment was that he was scheduled to start as Aaron Rogers was expected to sit out and back-up Brett Hundley nursed an ankle injury.
The Packers signed Callahan as a free agent after he set an NCAA Division III single–season record with 5,063 yards passing and 55 touchdowns last fall for the Wolverines.
The Packers' next preseason game is Friday in Green Bay against the Cleveland Browns.
