For the fifth time since 2009, Wesley College saw its football season end at Mount Union.

The Wolverines fell to the top-ranked Purple Raiders 56-35 Saturday in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III football playoffs.

The turning point came over the final 9 minutes of the second quarter.  After a Wesley TD trimmed Mount Union’s lead to 21-14, The Purple Raiders rattled of 28 unanswered points before the half - helped by a pair of Wolverine turnovers.  That gave Mount Union 49-14 lead at the break,  and Wesley never got closer than 14 points again.

The Wolverines committed 4 turnovers in all, offsetting another strong performance from senior quarterback Joe Callahan.  Callahan threw for 379 yards and 4 touchdowns.  He finished the season with a Division III record 5,063 yards passing and is the first Div. III quarterback ever to surpass the 5,000 yard mark in one year.

Wesley finishes the 2015 season at 11-2, their seventh straight campaign with 10 or more wins.
