2015 Slam Dunk to the Beach field and scheduled finalized

The field and schedule for the second edition of the revived Slam Dunk to the Beach high school hoop tournament is now set.

Tournament officials announced Monday the final two schools coming to Lewes next month.

Washington DC’s Maret School and The Patrick School from Elizabeth, NJ round out Slam Dunk’s 19-team field.

That field also features three teams in USA TODAY Super 25 preseason national rankings: sixth ranked La Lumiere (La Porte, IN), 13th ranked Roman Catholic (Philadelphia, PA), and 20th ranked Roselle Catholic (Roselle, NJ).

Six First State teams are also participating - a list topped by 2015 state tournament semi-finalists, Sanford and Mount Pleasant.

The Slam Dunk opens its three day run at Cape Henlopen High School Sunday December 27th at noon with Maret School facing Middletown’s Appoquinimnk High school.

There are six games each day, set up in two three-game sessions.

Among the highlights for local fans will be Sanford, a  seven-time Delaware state champ,  dueling La Lumiere at 9 pm Monday December 28th.

Slam Dunk officials say last year’s tourney drew over 10,000 spectators and contributed more than $1 million to the local economy.

Tickets are available at the Slam Dunk to the Beach tournament website.  Three-day passes cost $55, while single day passes are $25.
