Wesley College football tops East in NCAA regional rankings

Wesley College is well positioned to make the NCAA Division III football playoffs for an 11th straight season.

The 8-0 Wolverines not only lead the New Jersey Athletic Conference standings– but they also sit atop the East in the first set of NCAA regional rankings released Wednesday.

The NCAA rankings help determine playoff seeding in Division Three.

Wesley can earn an automatic playoff bid by winning the NJAC title.  Right now, the Wolverines are the only team in the league without a loss – sitting at 7-0 following last week’s 56-22 win at Montclair State.

Wesley – ranked third and fourth in Division III’s two national polls – hosts Salisbury Saturday in Dover.  The 5-2 Sea Gulls are second in the NJAC with a 5-1 conference record, but have lost their last 10 meetings with Wesley.

Wesley closes out the regular season a week from Saturday at 2-6 William Patterson
