Bills going up for Delmarva Power gas customers

Delaware Public Media

Just as temperatures cool and home heaters kick on, Delmarva Power is announcing its residential gas customers will need to dig deeper into their wallets this winter.

Starting November 1, Delmarva’s Delaware customers will see their bills rise 5.8 percent.  That translates to about   $6.63 per month for the average homeowner.

Delmarva Power says the Gas Cost Rate (GCR) adjustment in needed to reflect the changing cost it faces for procuring natural gas.  That includes the cost of gas and transporting it.

The company notes this is its first Gas Cost Rate increase in 5 years, and its natural gas customers have seen a 28 percent decrease in total natural gas bills since 2010.
