The University of Delaware Department of Music hosts a preview of this summer’s chamber music festivalSerafin Summer Musicthis week.

Kate Ransom is the artistic director for the Serafin Summer Music festival; she’s also president and CEO of the Music School of Delaware and founding violinist of the Serafin String Quartet.

She says Tuesday night’s festival preview is called “French Connection,”

“It’s an all-French program. And it features beautiful works by the song writer..a beautiful writer of the French melodie-style song Reynaldo Hahn. And we’re going to present a little song that he wrote and we’re going to present it in two versions.”

Ransom says the two versions are the original for voice and piano, and a transcription by Anthony Sirianni for violin and piano.

Two other works will be performed as part of the preview concert at the Roselle Center for the Arts on UD’s campus Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at 8 p.m.

Ransom says, “We’re going to play one of the most beloved and famous works for violin and piano. And it is the Sonata in A by Cesar Franck. And I will be joined by the wonderful pianist from Chicago Steinway Artist Victor Asuncion.”

Tickets for the preview concert are $15 adults, $10 seniors, UD staff & alumni, $5 students, cash or check at the door. You can get more info here.
