Three DUI checkpoints planned in Delaware this weekend

Delaware Office of Highway Safety

Law enforcement in the First State plan to keep a closer eye out for drunk drivers this Labor Day weekend.

Delaware’s Office of Highway Safety (OHS) is partnering with National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and local law enforcement on the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign.

As part of that nationwide effort, Delaware State Police, local, and county police departments, will conduct DUI checkpoints in all three counties this weekend.  They’ll start at Saturday night at 10 o’clock and last through 2 o’clock Sunday morning on Route 40 in Newark, on Route 13 in Camden and on Route 24 in Millsboro.

The Highway Safety Office officials say so far in 2019, Delaware has seen four confirmed DUI fatalities, over 600 DUI-related crashes and over 300 DUI-related injuries.
