DART's Beach Bus Service sees record ridership during Memorial Day weekend

DART
DART’s Beach Bus has started up again and it’s appears to be picking up in popularity. ";s:

It appears more people are willing to give public transportation a try at the Delaware beaches.

DART’s Beach Busridership hit record highs during its first weekend of operations over the long Memorial Day holiday weekend.

The Delaware Transit Corporation (DTC), which operates DART, says 10,905 trips were taken, a 37-percent increase in rides compared to 2018 and 42-percent more than in 2017.

One route in particular seemed popular.  DART’s 201 Red Line, traveling between the Lewes Transit Center, Rehoboth Park & Ride and Rehoboth Boardwalk, contributed to 84-percent of the ridership increase.

DART also credits the great Memorial Day weekend weather with helping boost ridership.

This is the third beach season that the Lewes Transit Center is operating - and this year it has added new indoor passenger facility with an air-conditioned seating area, restrooms, ticket sales, and large LCD monitors displaying real-time bus information and other relevant news and information.
