3 new COVID-19 related deaths and 170 new cases in Delaware Sunday

Delaware saw a small uptick in its COVID-19 numbers Sunday.

State health officials report 3 new deaths, raising the state's death toll to 224.There are also 170 new positive cases, lifting the total since March 11th to 6,447.

Sussex County still has the most cases to date in the state and is now over 3,000 with 3,059. Kent County has now topped 1,000 cases with 1,016 so far. New Castle County has 2,331.

Key indicators for reopening the state continue to hold steady or tick down.

Current hospitalizations are down 3 to 285. The number has been 300 or below for over 10 days. 53 people are critically ill.

The 5-day averages for percentage of people testing positive (11.3%) and new positive cases (120.3) are also down incrementally again Sunday.

Gov. Carney announced Friday he’s targeting June 1st  for Delaware to enter Phase 1 of reopening.

People considered recovered are up 87 Sunday to 2,537. Negative tests to date in Delaware now total 24,592.
