Incumbents hold seats in Dover municipal election

Delaware Public Media

Incumbents carried the day in Tuesday’s Dover municipal election.

In two of the three contested City Council races, current office holders were given another four-year term.

In the Second District, incumbent William Hare garnered nearly 68 percent of the 948 votes cast to defeat James Galvin.

In the Third District, incumbent Fred Neil easily defeated Lance Moffa and Jane Rolfes, winning 280 of the 337 votes in that race.

In the First District, Tanner Polce earned the right to replace retiring City Councilman James Hutchison, winning a three-way race with William Garfinkel and Matthew Linndell with 41 percent of the vote. Polce finished with 212 votes. Lindell received 172 and Garfinkel 132.

The First District will also see a special election next month to fill the seat vacated by James Hosfelt, who won a special election last month to fill a seat on Kent County Lev Court.

Council president Tim Slavin remains in his At-Large seat and David Anderson will return to his Fourth District seat.  Both ran unopposed.
