Bethany Hall-Long will fill the vacant Lt. Governor’s office.

59 percent of voters went for the Democratic State senator compared to 41 percent for her Republican opponent LaMar Gunn.

Hall-Long said voters chose her and other Democratic candidates this election because they stand for working families.

“John Carney, Lisa Blunt Rochester, Trinidad Navarro and myself, we're working for the issues of a stronger healthier Delaware, whether it’s economics or educations or any other important issue," Hall Long said.

The Lt. Governor’s office has been empty for two years since Matt Denn left to become the state Attorney General.

Hall-Long’s victory will leave a vacancy in the State Senate – requiring a special election to select her successor.
