UD says masks are required on campus

Delaware Public Media

The University of Delaware says it is now requiring masks on campus.

UD told its campus community Friday masks are required in all University indoor facilities, regardless of vaccination status - with limited exceptions.

The rule applies to students, faculty and visitors to the campus. It goes into effect immediately and is expected to last into the fall semester.

The move is in line with the latest guidance from the CDC, which was updated last week.

The only deviation is UD says a mask should be worn outside as well which is not the current CDC guidance.

The university’s announcement Friday says more information pertaining to all UD athletic events will be forthcoming soon.

According to UD’s COVID dashboard, 71 percent of its community is vaccinated as of Aug 1.

All students are required to be fully vaccinated this fall - barring a religious or medical exception.  Any student, faculty or staff not fully vaccinated by Aug 15 must be COVID tested weekly.
