Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

Delaware set another new single day record for new COVID-19 cases.

Health officials report the state recorded 1,090 new cases Friday.

It’s the first time the state has seen more that 1,000 in a single day and that number topped the previous record of 936 just over a week ago.

It also pushed Delaware’s 7-day rolling average for new cases to a record 824.9.

8 new COVID-related deaths were announced – 4 in New Castle County, 3 in Kent County and 1 in Sussex. Delaware’s death toll is now 815.

The state did see COVID-related hospitalizations statewide drop for the first time this month, down to 348 Friday from 363 Thursday.  49 people are considered in critical condition.

Delaware is approaching 46,000 positive cases of COVID-19 out of more than 825,000 tests.

The state is averaging nearly 8,000 tests per day.
