Delaware's federal courthouse closes to public after positive COVID-19 test

Delaware Public Media
A courthouse in Wilmington has become a casualty of the Coronavirus pandemic.

The J. Caleb Boggs U.S. Courthouse and Federal Building in downtown Wilmington is closed to the public until further notice.

The closure comes after the Court was notified that an attorney who recently appeared before the Court tested positive for COVID-19.

A statement from the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware, states “the courthouse closure is necessary to protect the health and safety of the public and staff and judicial officersfrom further exposure to - or spread of the disease.”

The Court’s Case Management/Electronic Case Filing (CM/ECF) system is not affected by the closure and parties may continue to file electronically.

It’s uncertain if the case connected to the federal courthouse is one of the 30 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Delaware reported by the state’s Division of Public Health.
