The Kent County chapter of Vietnam Veterans of America is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Kent County Veterans Memorial Park.

The Kent County of the Vietnam Veterans of America has commissioned a special coin.

The commemorative coin marks the 10th anniversary of the Kent County Veterans Memorial Park in Dover, and was designed by chapter members Ken Bodine and Woody Postle.

“Both are Vietnam Veterans. And we decided that we needed something - a special commemorative coin that would mark the 10th anniversary. The coin will sell for $10 apiece and all the money will go towards maintaining the park,” said Dave Skocik from the Kent County chapter of the Vietnam Veterans of America.

He says the coin includes a listing of the park's memorials on one side and the Canines Assisting Service Heroes emblem on the other. The CASH program purchases and provides training for service dogs for veterans who qualify for them.

Skocik says the coin is available now at Forney’s Too gift shop in downtown Dover; only 500 coins were made.

He adds it will also be sold at the Chapter’s annual Veterans Day ceremony on Monday, November 11, 2019.

The Kent County Veterans Memorial Park honors Kent Countians lost in Vietnam, Korea and the Middle East. It also includes memorials to Gold Star Mothers and Families.
