Deputy chief takes over as Chief of the Bureau of Prisons

Delaware Public Media

The Delaware Department of Correction has new leadership. Shane Troxler is being tapped to serve as Chief of the Bureau of Prisons.

Troxler was serving as Deputy Chief.  He got his start as a Correctional Officer at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in 2003 and has risen through the ranks since.

In his new role he will have administrative oversight of all Delaware Prisons.

In a statement, Chief Troxler said he looks forward to the continued growth and culture change within the Delaware DOC.

Troxler replaces Steven Wesley - who left the position in January for a job in the Department of Services for Children, Youth and their Families.

Delaware State Police and Air National Guard veteran Paul Shavack will replace Troxler as Deputy Chief.
