Big lottery jackpots continue growing

Delaware residents have two chances to ring in 2018 with a big lottery jackpot.

There were no winners in either the MegaMillions or Powerball drawings this week, and now the two combined are worth nearly $700 million.

MegaMillions has not had a winner since late October and that jackpot has risen to $306 million for Friday night’s drawing.  It’s the biggest MegaMillions prize since it hit $393 million back in August.

$384 million will be up for grabs in Saturday’s Powerball drawing.  That is the 20th biggest jackpot ever in the U.S. and the largest Powerball prize since it climbed to nearly $759 million last August.

Delaware has never had a MegaMillions jackpot winner in that game’s 15 year history. The state’s last Powerball winner came in last December when a winning ticket worth nearly $122 million was sold at a Selbyville gas station.

The odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot are 1 in 258 million.

The Powerball odds are about 1 in 292 million.
