Instead of dreaming of a white Christmas, some may be tempted to wish for a big lottery win this weekend.
Both the MegaMillions and Powerball jackpots are soaring just ahead of Christmas. Combined, they are putting nearly $550 million up for grabs this weekend.
The jackpot for Friday’s MegaMillions drawing is $247 million. It’s only the second time this year and the third time in two years it’s topped $200 million. It reached $393 million back in August.
And if you don’t win that prize, there’s always Saturday’s Powerball drawing. That’s worth $300 million, the biggest Powerball jackpot since it climbed to nearly $759 million last August.
Delaware is still looking for its first ever MegaMillions jackpot winner. The state’s last Powerball winner came in last December when a winning ticket worth nearly $122 million was sold at a Selbyville gas station.
The odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot are one in 258 million.
The Powerball odds are about one in 292 million.
